Mid-Week Pick me up: SNL Digital Short - YOLO

Oh and if you don't already read her blog....you suck. No really, the only remedy is to click on the link and read....she is AWESOME and HILARIOUS!!!

Weekly Obsession: Black Pumpkins

No, I haven't genetically modified pumpkins to be black instead of orange, and I haven't burned anything either.

I'm referring to the absolutely yummy Pumpkin Beer and Guinness concoction. I've obviously used Arcadia Ale's Jaw-Jacker here.

I've also made this with New Holland's Ichabod, Blue Moon's Harvest Pumpkin Ale, Sam Adams' Fat Jack and Sam Adams' Harvest Pumpkin Ale. And I'm really hoping to crack into one made with Kentucky Pumpkin Barrel Ale tonight. (If you haven't gathered from that short list....I really LIKE pumpkin beer.)

Pour pumpkin beer into a glass, carefully layer Guinness over it. You can use the back of a spoon, or you can use one of these awesome cool thingies my S-I-L got my husband for Christmas one year.

Yes, that is a turtle. It's an awesome invention, no mixing on Guinness layered beers.

So, go out and try one. Let me know what you think.

Mid-Week Pick Me Up: Emperor's New Groove

If you haven't seen this movie, you should be ashamed! It is the best (IMO) Disney movie EVER!

This is one of my favorite scenes and no matter how many times I see this, I crack up. Even now, having watched it 5 times writing this post, I'm still laughing.

"You know, it's a good thing, you're not a big, fat guy or this would be really difficult."

Trailer

Yzma turns into a .... (Spoiler)

Ahh, this movie makes me so happy!

Weekly Obsession: Scooby Doo & Mystery Inc.

We've been really excited about Scooby Doo and the Mystery Inc. movies that are popping up this time of year. Angel Baby and Squeaker both like to watch them, as do I (yay, to fun kid movies)

Last year, this was Angel Baby's favorite one.

And it looks like this one is shaping up to be her favorite for 2013....

Mid-Week Pick Me Up: Improv Everywhere's 10th Annual MP3 Experiement

I have to admit I'd love to be able to do this one day. Alas, they seem to be focused in the NY area. If anyone hears of one in MI let me know!!!

Weekly Obsession: More Knitting (Burton Bear)

I'm still on a knitting kick. And I made this adorable cowl/hood for Angel Baby. It's not quite as good as the picture. But it's not too shabby for my first time.

I need to work on the hood seaming and make the ears bigger next time. But other than that, it's adorable!!!

I'm going to make one for me (without ears) in blue and one for Squeaker (with ears) in a chocolate brown.

I did finish my cranberry cowl. But I need to block it and sew the button on. I will post that pic when I'm all done.

Mid-week Pick Me Up: Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel

When I think of Peter Gabriel this is the first song I think of. It just brings me back to when I was a little kid and my only worries was whether I could talk my mom into letting me go outside to play before my homework was done.

I used to watch MTV on the down low. My parents weren't really against it, but I felt like they wouldn't be totally for it either.

Sorry for missing last week. I thought the craziness of the semester starting would have been done by then. I should be back to our regularly scheduled broadcast.

Weekly Obsession: Knitting

My mother is a textile crafter. She has branched out to paper, but she loves: Cross Stitch, Crochet, knitting, you get the picture.

Well, she has been trying to get me to cross stitch and crochet my entire life. To little to no avail. I picked up the cross stitch bug a few years ago. But I just don't really like to crochet. It's just......ugh. I don't like having to figure out where the stitches are, where to put the hook, ugh. Too much thinking involved.

But when I was pregnant with Squeaker, I asked for something I could do that was mindless, well more meditative than mindless. So she suggested knitting. I had always thought knitting would be twice as difficult as crochet, one more needle after all. But it turns out all the issues I had with crochet, were taken care of with knitting. I don't have to figure out where to put the stitch, they are all on the needles.

I'm really excited to be working on this project. It's a really cute cowl and I'm doing it in a really pretty cranberry color.

AND, Mom and I are going to be doing a Mystery Knit Along in October through the Craftsy site. Should be a lot of fun. I'm really excited.

Also, if any of you are into yarn crafts, Craftsy is having a huge "2 Million Member" sale. Some of their yarn is 75% off. Most are closer to 65% but COME ON!!! HUGE!!!!

But the best thing ever is when I texted this picture to my mom, she said, "Very pretty! It looks like you've been knitting for years."

Awwwwww, thanks Mom!

Happy Birthday Squeaker!!!

My little man is 2 today!!! How amazing/mind blowing is that?!?!?!

Little man, two years ago today, you made your presence known.

On Sept. 17th, 2011, I started having contractions. Nothing like the crazy pains your sister gave me. Just a hey, I'm thinking of coming. Then on the way to the hospital they stopped. Once we got there they checked us out and said, yeah, go ahead and head home.

I get home and have a roll, why I did this, I don't know. (I should have learned from your sister's birth not to eat when they send you home.) So, I get all ready for bed, lay down at 2am and thought, hmmmm, today might be the big day.

Well, you must have heard me. Because a few moments later, I felt a tightening and then a loosening (like a rubber band snapping) and realized that you were bound and determined to come today.

After finally getting through to the doctor on call, (an hour and a half later, though to be fair he was in a C-section the entire time) we headed back to the hospital.

You were moving around, but you weren't in any sort of hurry. You knew that someone will come get me. No worries.

Well, after a few hours of monitoring and waiting for my stomach to break down the roll I ate a 1am. They hooked me up to the epidural.

Apparently, I thought this was hilarious, because I started laughing hysterically, I mean huge tears are running down my face. The nurses and doctors were a bit surprised. The anesthesiologist said "I swear I didn't put anything funny in there!" Poor Daddy, thought I was screaming until someone flapped the door open and he realized I was laughing.

After strapping me down on the table like Jesus, they got to work. A few minutes later we had a beautiful strawberry blond, blue eyed little man. 9.3lbs. 21 inches.

The funny thing was, the doc said that when she got to you, you just raised your hand like, "Hey, come get me, I'm hear and ready."

Funny thing is, you are just the same. You still would rather someone do something for you. Instead of walking you demanded that someone carry you. Even now, sometimes you will stand and wait for someone to carry you instead of walking.

But you are my snuggly little man and I am so lucky to be your Mom!

Mid-Week Pick Me Up: Happy (Despicable Me 2)

This is just such a perfect song for today. Squeaker's birthday is today!

And I just have to share it with everyone!

Absence Explained with a Make-up Gift

I know I've been MIA for a while. Sorry about that. New semester and all.

So I leave you with this gem that I found from Feeling Stitchy's blog.

If this doesn't make you smile......you're dead.

Seriously!

You should call the mortician in.

Weekly Obsession: Planners

This week, since it's back to school madness EVERYWHERE I decided to go with one of my favorite back to school traditions.

A NEW PLANNER!!

I am very old/new school when it comes to planners. I do use my calendar on my iPhone, however, there's something to be said for the old fashioned textile feeling of having a paper planner.

I've used everything from a Franklin Covey daily planner, to a Moleskine, to a MomAgenda, even a Walgreen's photo one. And I have to say I've found I am somewhat particular when it comes to planners. My latest planner is from Target. Just a green fabric covered one from Greenroomco.com. I doctored the cover by adding my sorority letters on the front. A decal I got from Convention. Woohoo!!!!

Anyway, this is what I've found over the years.

I like:
  • a monthly view. This just helps to keep everything in perspective.
  • a weekly format. Here is where I get into the specifics for everything. Daily planners have too much paper!
  • a note section. Never know when you're going to need to jot something down.
  • monthly tabs. I have inserted my own when necessary.
  • current week tab. Again, DIY when needed.
  • Wire ring. This seems to hold up the best. And more importantly, it lays flat!!!!
  • Hardcover. Again, seems to hold up better than softcover.
  • Elastic closure. Nice to have, but not always necessary.
  • Front and back cover slip pockets. I DIY this yet again when it isn't there.
  • No larger than a 5x8. The larger ones have just too much room, and are too much to lug around all year.
Additional things I like to do...

  • Different color ink for birthdays, anniversaries, etc.
  • Small event notes, sometimes just a time and a code on the monthly to get the big picture.
  • Sticky notes. Things are always changing, it's nice to have things on post-its to change around or remind me of something.
What do you like? Are you strictly a google calendar type of person, just a planner, what?

Mid-Week Pick Me Up: Hey Baby by No Doubt

Recently, I was listening to some No Doubt in the car and Angel Baby hear this song. She has now become obsessed with it and wants me to play it for her ALL THE TIME!!!

It is a great song though.

Weekly Obsession: Cross Stitch

I have been on a cross stitch kick lately. Just something about sitting and crafting has really taken hold of me lately.

Some of you may remember that cross stitch project I posted about a little over a year and a half ago.
Well, I was picking at it and realized that while I'm further along, as you can see below.

However, with 30 some odd different colors and only needing a stitch here, or two there, it can be a bit tedious. So I've branched out and started a few other projects. Both of which are gifts, so I can't post them now. ;)

How about you? Are you a cross stitcher? What are you working on? Do you do any other crafts?

Mid-Week Pick Me Up: Around the World by Daft Punk

I know Daft Punk has released new music and that their song "Get Lucky" is in the running for the "Song of the Summer". But here's an oldie but goodie of theirs.

I give you......

Around the World by Daft Punk

And yes, it is very odd and slightly creepy. Isn't it great?!?!?!

Lyrics are:
Around the world, around the world     (Repeat 71 more times)

Weekly Obsession: Shaving Oil and Razor Blades

Here I go again with something most people are like? WTF? Really, you're obsessing over razors and shaving?

Yes. Yes, I am!

The Hubs found out about these awesome razors from a friend of his. Granted his friend recommended the razors for guys. But I found the women's 6 blade razor on there. Now, to be fair, I was kinda suspicious.

How are they so cheap? This has 8 blade cartridges and the "holder thingy" (I have no idea what it's really called.) for almost $16?!?!?!?!

Well, we tried them and I don't know about the Hubs, but I LOVE mine!!!

Now, I don't feel bad about getting a replacement cartridge as soon as it starts to get dull just because I don't want to waste the money.

And the best part............

Are you ready for it?!?!?!?

Is that the blades cartridge bends in the middle. WTF!?!?! Why has no one thought of this before now?

Yes, it's essentially 2 three blade razors fused together, but still bendable. A bit confusing to explain, but just look at this picture and you can kinda tell.

Makes it easier to go around knees, ankles, etc. GENIUS!!!!!!

Now what blog post about shaving would be complete without a mention of the shaving cream? Well, this one, since I'm going to talk about shaving oil instead of cream.

Oil you say?!?!?

Yes, oil.

Somersets Shaving Oil has apparently been making shaving oil for quite some time. I ordered a bottle of this for me a little over a year ago, and it's still not even a fifth used.

Yes, exactly.

Now, you don't need a whole lot. I use about 10 drops or so.

NOTE:  it works better if you have already dampened your skin with warm water. It helps the oil spread easier rather than soaking into your skin.

Also, just to let you know, it does have a strong smell, the essential oils are a bit pungent first thing in the morning. Luckily, I don't mind it.

And they now have an extra delicate version for women as well for the bikini line since the oil may be a bit too much for those delicate areas.

Another great thing is that the oil, not only lubricates the leg, but it lubricates the oil making the blade cut closer and last longer!!!!! Double win for the razors!!!

The Hubs really likes the after shave lotion. But he doesn't use the shaving oil so when mine runs out, I'll just use his.

And get this......it looks like Walgreens sells Somerset's now too.

Mid-Week Pick Me Up: Cups by Anna Kendrick

Ok, so here's another simple idea to keep my blog posting regular and to help me make it through Wednesday. Ugh, something about the middle of the week that just gets to me.......

I am unveiling my "Mid-Week Pick Me Up"

Huzzah.....and the crowd goes wild!!!!

I give you Cups by Anna Kendrick! I just LOVE this song!!!! She is such a great singer.

Side note: Did anyone realize that she's the creepy girl in CAMP?!?!?! I didn't until recently. Holy crap!

And if you haven't seen CAMP, it's a cute coming of age story about drama/musical camp for kids.

I got my ticket for the long way round
Two bottles of whiskey for the way
And I sure would like some sweet company
And I'm leaving tomorrow, what do you say

When I'm gone
When I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me by my hair
You're gonna miss me everywhere, oh
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone

When I'm gone
When I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me by my walk
You're gonna miss me talk, oh
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone

I got my ticket for the long way round
The one with the prettiest of views
It's got mountains
It's got rivers
It's got sights to give you shivers
But it sure would be prettier with you

When I'm gone
When I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me by my walk
You're gonna miss me by my talk, oh
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone

When I'm gone
When I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me by my hair
You're gonna miss me by my everywhere, oh
Oh you're sure gonna miss me when I'm gone

When I'm gone
When I'm gone
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone
You're gonna miss me by my walk
You're gonna miss me by my talk, oh
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone

Weekly Obsession: Fringe

The Hubs and I have recently discovered this awesome gem of a tv show on netflix. We have been watching about 8 - 10 episodes a week. I just love Walter and his comments.

Peter: Are you okay? Did you take something?
Walter: Psychedelics? No, not since Thursday, no.

Peter: I tried to expense a couple of Celtic tickets on the FBI--she caught me.
Walter: Oh, I see. I hope she doesn't notice the $2,000 for the baboon seminal fluid I ordered. I hope I can recall why I ordered it.

Astrid: So this thing has the claws of a lion and the fangs of a snake?
Walter: It reminds me of a woman I once knew in Cleveland.
Peter: Walter, these punctures are over four inches apart. And that would make this snake eight-feet long.
Walter: Her name was Harriet something.
Olivia: How is everything?
Peter: Well, apparently you're looking for a lion-snake named Harriet.

And the great thing is we don't have to wait for the next episode. Plus, I tend to get bored with tv shows easily. But so far, this show is amazing!!!!

Have you watched it? Who's your favorite character? Any favorite plot lines? Keep in mind that I'm mid way through season two. So no spoilers please.

Weekly Obsession: My Kids

Yes, I know this sounds really cheesy and sappy. But I really am in love with them, moreso than usual this week.

For those of you with kids, do you have a day or a string of days, where you just can't. stop. kissing. your kids?

I don't know what it is, but I just can't get enough snuggles and hugs and kisses this week. Though to be honest, look at how cute they are!

Both of those were taken at our local zoo. I'm so glad we renewed our family pass again. Here's to more cute zoo pics!

And behold the best pic of all!!!
This way, I can prove to them in 10 years when they "hate" each other, that they really do love each other!

Weekly Obession: Eos Lip Balm

So for my second installment of my Weekly Obsession, we have Eos Lip Balm.

I'm sure you've seen these awesomely adorable lip balm spheres.

I saw them, and wondered about how you could use them. See, I really hate lip balms that are in a pot where you  need your fingers or a lip brush for a few reasons.

1. I don't like having product on my finger.
2. It's not really sanitary to use your hands.
3. I don't always have a lip brush handy.
4. It's a pain in the ass to clean the brush afterwards.

So, once I saw that the product bumps outwards, I decided to try it.

I have the Honeysuckle/Honeydew (Green), Lemon Drop (Yellow), Raspberry Pomegranate (Dark Magenta) and the Summer Fruit (Red).

I don't know why they look like eggs here.

I love these for so many reasons. Mainly:

* They are 95% organic
* 100% Natural
* Cruelty free
* Amazing flavor
* Wonderful coverage
* Paraben, gluten, petrolatum, and  phthalate free.

And not necessarily in that order.

I do have to admit that I prefer the flavor of Summer Fruit, it's got a peach flavor, so I use that before bed. The Honeydew is nice, but I use that more for under my lip glosses where I'm less likely to taste it. I was really excited to try the Lemon Drop one since I love most things Lemon. But with it being the only SPF 15 one, I can smell that in it, and that's the turn off for me, the flavor itself is more of a lemon cookie flavor. The Raspberry Pomegranate, is the most mild in flavor and scent. In fact, I don't think it has a flavor at all.

All in all, it's a great product, but the particular flavors/smells can be off putting. So make sure to keep that in mind.

*****NOTE: All products were purchased by me and are my own opinions of what I have experienced.*****

Weekly Obsession: Alex and Ani Bangles

I've decided to do a weekly post on something/idea/place/etc. that I'm obsessing about. Let me know what you think. I'd love feedback, and suggestions on things.

This week, Alex and Ani bangle bracelets.

I hadn't heard of these until I was at Convention. Apparently, they are all the rage on the East Coast and you can get them at "Bloomie's". The only problem is that here in Michigan, we don't have Bloomingdales. Luckily though, I was able to find a store in the area that sells them.

I purchased their "Completely Blessed" and "Path of Life" bangles. I can't wait to add to my collection. I'd love to get "What's for you will not pass you" and have Hubs give me "Because I Love You". I'd really like to see what Angel Baby would come up with if given the option.

There are a number of great things about this company. Not only are their products made in the USA. But they are made from recycled metals. And the company focuses on positivity. And who doesn't need more of that?!?!?!

Their blog posts are amazingly positive...and they'll post to your Facebook wall if you "Like" Alex and Ani's Facebook page.

***NOTE****
This product was purchased by me, and my opinions are solely based on my experience.

Aggravated...

So the other day, I decided to take Angel Baby to see Despicable Me 2 in 3D. It was after work/pre-school. So I rushed around, got us some food, and got there in time. We bought our tickets for the 6:15 show, got our concessions and headed into the theater for our movie to start in 10 min. Perfect, right?!?!?

Nope.

6:15 came and went with nothing. So we packed up, went and found the Customer Service desk and asked what was up. The employee (with the fancy sports jacket and name tag) went to check on things. Turns out, the 3D theater wasn't working and had been serviced all day.

WTF?!?!?!

1. It's been out all day, and yet you can still buy tickets?

2. You're in charge, how do you not know this?

So we decide we still want to see it even in 2D. We get our tickets switched over and he refunds me the difference. Now we have a 20 minutes before we can even sit down in the new theater. Luckily, Angel Baby is just so tickled to be out with Mommy by herself she's dancing and having a grand time. Whew! We finally get to our seats and the movie starts.

All is good, right?!?!?!

Yeah.......nope.

An hour into the movie, it clicks off. Nothing. So we're all sitting there and an usher comes in and says, "We're working on getting the movie back up, it'll be a few minutes."

Whatever, I'm starting to realize this movie theater sucks ass and that I'm never coming back.

Again Miss Usher shows up and says, "It'll be a few more minutes."

After another two "Few more minutes" Angel Baby asks if we can leave. Well, since it's now 8:30, we've been here for 2.5 hours and we're not sure when it's going to start.....yes...we can leave.

On our way out, we meet 2nd fancy person in a Sports Jacket with name tag. She asks if we're leaving from Despicable Me 2? Yes.

"I'm on my way in there now to offer free passes to everyone for the inconvenience. And how many are in my party?"

I told her that this was by far the most horrible movie experience I had ever had and that I was never coming back again.

"We had a power outage, and for some reason this movie doesn't want to start back up."

I informed her of my first situation, and then that fact that I didn't need to have someone keep coming in and say some random, "Few minutes". She seemed surprised about the 3D thing, (yet again, no one talking to anyone else).

***Side note: Is is just me, or wouldn't it have been better if Miss Usher had said, "We've had a power outage and are working on the situation, we will keep you informed of our progress."****

She asked me again, if I wanted free passes.

Nope. Not a chance. Why would I want to come back here to be subjected to horrible service?!?!?!?

And the only reason I didn't ask for a refund is because I had free passes to being with.

Angel Baby and I will try again this weekend to see it in 3D. I will make it right to her.

Summer 2013

Hey everyone, life has been good, stressful, difficult and exciting.

We've had a great summer so far. And I'm looking forward to the rest of it. There has been a lot of individual travel. I went to my sororities national convention a few weeks ago, and the Hubs is off in Massachusetts for work. He's been gone since the 8th and will be back on Friday. It's the longest we've been apart and it's rough on both of us.

Luckily though, after this week, the rest of the summer should be smooth sailing.

As for my blog here, I don't know if anyone is even still following me or not. But I've got some ideas on how to increase my posting. So keep an eye out, things are in the works.

Blessed Be

Pagan Blog Prompt: Coven vs. Solitary Practice

Ivy over at Pagan Blog Prompts posted this last week. And since most of the answers were solitary...at least now, I figured I'd offer an opposite view of things.

Please forgive me if this prompt has been done, but coven vs. solitary practice is something I have always been interested in. I practice in a coven myself, but spent a many good years doing my own thing as a solitary, so I have felt first have the benefits and drawbacks of both situations.
How do you all feel? Do you practice in a group or solitary? Which do you prefer? If you chose one over the other, why do you feel that way? If you are a coven member, would you ever go back to being solitary? If you practice alone, would you ever join a group? Just something to think over. :)
I look forward to reading your thoughts!!

1. Do you practice in a group or solitary? Currently, I'm an initiated member into a coven (Wiccan).

2. Which do you prefer? It depends. Right now I enjoy having the group around me for ritual and occasional courses. I needed a little more structure than I usually do on my own. Since I'm a wife, and mom of two little ones, plus I work full time I don't have the forethought or diligence to put my own religious/spiritual path in the forefront. Especially since the Hubs is Christian, I don't have another pagan around to remind me..."hey the wheel is turning. We need to do a ritual." Or "Hey, isn't it a full moon?" (Though the Goddess has kindly helped me with the later issue.)

3. If you chose one over the other, why do you feel that way? See above answer. Plus the nice thing about my group is that I can learn about various topics....or not. I'm not pigeon-holed into one specific viewpoint. Sure we have the typical Neophyte year where we learn the ways of the coven, but after that, we can branch out into whatever area we would like to go. We just need to take back what we learn to the group.

4. If you are a coven member, would you ever go back to being solitary? It would depend on a lot of factors. Since my group doesn't require constant attendance at things once you're initiated, I'm much less likely to leave. That said, it would take a lot (of issues, personality clashes, drama, etc.) for me to leave the group.

I tried many other things before, a social pagan group (which was and is fun, but too far away to attend a lot of things) other online forums, even a local group, but nothing really clicked before this current group I'm in. In fact, I probably wouldn't have considered (or even found) them if it wasn't that two new friends were third degrees in the coven. I think knowing someone inside the group helps with drawing people into the fold, if you will.

I Hope We're Still BFF's?!?!?!

You’d think we would be old friends by now. At the very least, we’d understand one another.

Nope.

Not a chance.

I’ve been trying to get to know you and your idiosyncrasies for years. It started way back in 8th grade when I perm’ed you. (It was the early 90’s.)

And the perm fell out.

No really. Beautiful bouncing curls. No washing of chemicals for a day and a half. And they fell out.

I should have learned at that moment.

Nope.

My mom took me back to the salon three days later and they perm’ed you again. This time the perm sort of took. Alas, we weren’t going for the dreadlock look.

No seriously, you did resemble dreadlocks unless I was actively brushing you.

Then we got along a little better in high school. I left you long and highlighted. No muss, no fuss. I embraced the straightness of you.

College came. I let you grow until you gave me migraines with your weight. I cut you from my waist to my chin. Getting shorter and shorter until you were an inch and a half long….and platinum blonde.

Then I decided to make you pink. First, bubble gum, pink streaks. Which you didn’t care for and promptly let wash out.

Again. Did I learn?

No.

I decided to cover all of you in hot, hot pink. I fused retinas on the backs of eyeballs of people that had to look at me. Well for a little while. Then you let most of that pink wash out.

Not all of it, mind you. You got your revenge with the small pink yarmulke back there.

I relented and let you grow out. We got along for a while. You even seemed to like the Mary Jane red I dyed you.

You didn’t want to let go of that. I tried to take you back to your beautiful, natural, caramel blonde color.

Nope. You didn’t want to let go. So I made the hair dresser bleach you three times in one sitting. And you were still slightly pink.

But you retaliated for that lapse of judgment on my part. I was lucky you didn’t fall out. You just decided that you had had enough.

I waited a few months again. And tried to make all of you the same color, instead of platinum ends and caramel blond roots.

Nope.

I ended up with dark ashy roots and platinum ends. You refused to soak up any more color. You were tired and fried.

I waited a few more weeks until I could cut off all the platinum ends. And dyed you a dark ashy blonde/brown color. You looked really pretty. Finally!!!!

We seemed to have come to some sort of an agreement.

Then I tried to go the natural shampoo route. I tried Apple Cider Vinegar. You stank and hung crisply for everyone to see.

I gave that one up fast.

Then I let you grow out and decided, when you were covering me like a winter blanket in one of the hottest summers and while I was pregnant, to donate you to some child who would be better served by you.

We were free and floating in the breeze. That was another nice time together.

I tried the natural-ish shampoo route again. This time using an actual store bought shampoo but sulfate free. We did okay with that. I even gave up conditioner. Well mostly. Every now and then you still demand it.

Finally we are where we are today. I wash you every other day. You don’t get crazy greasy and you actually let me style you somewhat.

I feel our relationship is better than ever.

Except today.

When I left the house, you looked great.

Now I have a weird kink in you and I look like a goddamn cockatoo.

What the fuck hair?!?!?!

Please tell me this is just a passing fancy and that we really are BFF’s.

Please?!?!?!

The Picture of Dorian Grey

So, I just discovered that my library has audio books. Not just the cd kind either. I can now download them directly to my phone. Of course, that made me remember my 2010 Book Challenge. Yes, I'm still on it. I was bad and only read one book on my list that year. Ugh. I did read, just nothing on that list.

Here goes. I decided to start with The Picture of Dorian Grey.

I've tried to read this so many times, but like Dracula I just couldn't get into it. All the descriptions and old timey language just stopped me cold. But having someone read it to me. I just have to open my ears and pay attention. Or space out on the boring parts.

I have to say that I sorta enjoyed this book. I liked it more than Dracula. Ugh. That book dragged on and on and on and on.

This one was really only a little dull during the middle. When Dorian was talking about what he did after he discovered that he wouldn't age. There was this section of all these gemstones and tapestries and clothing and such. It was his materialistic phase I guess. Just kept thinking....come on get back to the good stuff. Some dialogue even.

The whole Faustian idea of the book really made me think. What if someone could really stay young forever and their picture aged. I don't know that the soul would really get ugly from doing something horrible. How many serial killers do we see that are handsome and charming? Granted this came out long ago. I guess though that their souls are probably as hideous as Dorian's picture. It would be an interesting situation. Since no one really knows what a soul looks like.

Hmmm.....philosophical discussions may take place in my household now.

And I have to see the movie that came out a few years ago with Colin Firth as Lord Henry (I think).

LetterMo 2013

LetterMo is once more upon us. I am, of course participating again. Who wouldn't want to get mailbox sunshine?!?!

I also adopted another soldier from Soldier's Angels. And I branched out even more with that by signing up for the Ladies of Liberty team through SA. We send extra love to all the lady soldiers out there. Birthday cards, care packages or even just a simple letter letting them know that there are people back home that care about them. And Angel Baby is getting into the swing of things and including a Valentine in each of the cards, lets or packages I mail out. We hope everyone enjoys them.

If you would like to get a letter from me, please add your address to my postable account. No one else will see it, but me. So no worries about security.

I hope you have a safe Friday, the snow/ice is flying this morning. Luckily the Hubs and I are both off today. And we have the Niece and Nephew to watch too since their school was closed because of the weather. So stay warm and dry.  Snuggle up with a favorite book, or follow me in getting a warm drink, a pen, envelope and paper and write a note to someone you haven't talked to in a while.

Cheers!

Ok, I thought it was hilarious and had to share it!
